DailyPapers respects your privacy. We do not collect, store, or share any personal information. All your data stays on your device.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Saved Papers - Papers you bookmark for later reading
- Research Topics - Custom topics and keywords you create
- Reading History - Records of papers you have viewed
- Notes - Personal notes you write on papers
- AI Summaries - Generated summaries cached for offline access
- PDF Cache - Downloaded PDF files for offline reading
- LLM API Configuration - API endpoint, key, and model name you configure for AI features
You can delete all cached data at any time from the Settings page within the app.
Third-Party Services
DailyPapers communicates with the following third-party services to provide its core functionality:
- arXiv API (arxiv.org) - To fetch and search academic papers. Only search queries and category selections are sent. No personal data is transmitted.
- Semantic Scholar API (semanticscholar.org) - To retrieve citation data, references, and related paper recommendations. Only paper identifiers are sent.
- User-Configured LLM API - If you choose to enable AI summarization, paper abstracts are sent to the API endpoint you configure. We do not provide or control this service; please review the privacy policy of your chosen LLM provider.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identification information
- Location data
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Advertising identifiers
No Analytics or Tracking
DailyPapers does not integrate any analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, or advertising frameworks. We do not track your usage behavior in any way.
Data Security
All data is stored locally using iOS built-in storage mechanisms (SwiftData and UserDefaults). Your LLM API key is stored in UserDefaults on your device and is only used to authenticate requests to the API endpoint you specify.
Children's Privacy
DailyPapers does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
